Suna Lumeh

Suna joins the FES team adding a forward-thinking initiative to provide an advanced science and technology-based education capability. By leading efforts to expand internet access to remote regions or individuals with network feasibility limitations, she pursues establishing an extensive global learning network that links students with educational resources and online, face-to-face, distance mentoring and tutoring.

Through her Rising Science, Technology and Applied Resources (Rising STAR) initiative, we focus on improving upon and supplementing students’ STEM education. We realize great benefits in gaining momentum toward researching, learning and developing natural resources in these regions. By accomplishing this, we will foster creativity and innovation that not only provides solutions for these communities, but also grows to meet and exceed community needs.

Suna brings a technical dynamic to our team. Having started her career in Maryland’s thriving Biotech Corridor, she has professional experience in BioPharmaceutical Research and Development, including specialties in Analytical BioChemistry and also Drug Delivery and Devices. Suna earned a dual Bachelors of Science degree in Biomedical Engineering and in Biology from The George Washington University in Washington, DC. She later supplemented her pharmaceutical-based profession by earning a Masters in Materials Science and Engineering with a focus in Nanotechnology from The Johns Hopkins University in Maryland.

Suna has worked and volunteered as a tutor through Washington DC’s Heads Up University Neighborhood Initiative, through her undergraduate National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) Math & Science initiative and during her graduate tenure in Baltimore, Maryland. Her own personal achievements and successes fuel her dedication to empower youth, families and communities through efficiently balancing education with connected resources.
